Unity and love in the family prepares our children for helping establish peace and security in all arenas of society. How important, therefore, is their training in virtues and Baha’i ideals in the home so that they can spread these characteristics and patterns around the world?
As a mother, you can choose to be very intentional in making choices in regards to the elements of family life in order to reflect your spiritual priorities, including – but not limited to – how we spend our time, how we treat each other, what we bring into our home, and how we maintain discipline.
Posts in “Baha’i Family Life” are organized into four subcategories to support mothers in establishing a purposeful family environment and routine:
Creating a Spiritual Home Environment
Posts about using art, music, and other means to make our home a place conducive to spiritual growth and harmony for all family members. Mostly discussing the physical aspect of your home.
Posts about establishing a code of conduct that all family members adhere by, rhythms in the household, and patterns for spending time that uphold our family’s values. Mostly discussing family culture.
Ideas about praying with young children and activities that will help them learn prayers.
Thoughts on how to incorporate virtue learning into your family’s routine and creative exercises for practicing virtues.
Note ye how easily, where unity existeth in a given family, the affairs of that family are conducted; what progress the members of that family make, how they prosper in the world. Their concerns are in order, they enjoy comfort and tranquillity, they are secure, their position is assured, they come to be envied by all. Such a family but addeth to its stature and its lasting honour, as day succeedeth day…
And if the sphere of unity be still further widened out, that is, if the inhabitants of a whole country develop peaceable hearts, and if with all their hearts and souls they yearn to cooperate with one another and to live in unity, and if they become kind and loving to one another, that country will achieve undying joy and lasting glory. Peace will it have, and plenty, and vast wealth.
