Prayer

O Thou kind Lord! These lovely children are the handiwork of the fingers of Thy might and the wondrous signs of Thy greatness. O God! Protect these children, graciously assist them to be educated and enable them to render service to the world of humanity. O God! These children are pearls, cause them to be nurtured within the shell of Thy loving-kindness.  Thou art the Bountiful, the All-Loving.

(‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Baha’i Prayers p. 35)

It behooveth man to show forth that which will benefit mankind.

Helpfulness
(Nabil H., Virtues In Us #25)

May I, may I help you.
May I, may I help you.
May I, may I help you today.
May I help you clean the floor,
may I help you clean the floor,
may I help you clean the floor,
may I help you today.

Hands of Service Song

(by Michael Kerr)

I may not be so tall and I can’t do it all. My hands may be small, but they can make the world a better place.

Chorus: Little by little, day by day (x 3)
They can make the world a better place.

My hands can hold the door. My hands can sweep the floor. My hands can feed the poor and they can make the world a better place.

Comments about the lesson

When doing the daily activities this month, I was reminded how much my kids really do want to help. They enjoy helping with cooking, cleaning, laundry, anything! I just have to be patient and plan ahead to make sure we have enough time for them to “help” at their own pace.I was glad I had the opportunity to teach my son a new way to help the family this month. I have been meaning to teach him to make his bed for a long time![/quote]

I was glad I had the opportunity to teach my son a new way to help the family this month. I have been meaning to teach him to make his bed for a long time!

Activity #12 really motivated my children to clean up. I am constantly surprised by how agreeable they are, if we only use games and play to go about chores.

We really enjoyed activity #14. It was interesting to see what came to mind first, when we thought of how different family members help around the house. The night after we did the activity, we were getting ready for bed when my son said, I love you mommy because you are always feeding me and giving me lots of snacks. I was sure that the activity helped him think about this.

Testimonials

"Having morning family prayers is something I grew up with, but having a systematic approach that infuses Baha’u’llah’s words, virtues, and music into your morning devotions really carries that spirit through the rest of the day..." Read more on our Testimonials page.
