Using Music for Prayer and Meditation

August 1, 2012 By Chelsea

Music is a powerful tool for aiding prayer and meditation.  It can also help set the mood for daily reflection when we hold ourselves accountable for the day’s actions.
Bring thyself to account each day ere thou art summoned to a reckoning; for death, unheralded, shall come upon thee and thou shalt be called to give account for thy deeds.
(Baha’u’llah, The Arabic Hidden Words)

Below is a beautifully stirring song and video to the following Hidden Word:

“O SON OF SPIRIT!
My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting.”

(Baha’u’llah, The Arabic Hidden Words)

The song featured above is part of Shadi Toloui-Wallace’s album Leather Bound Book which you can find here.

We hope the Words of Baha’u’llah, put to melody and accompanied by images of Baha’is around the world striving for unity, touch your heart in a way that inspires you to become more pure, kindly, and radiant today.

What music inspires your daily reflection?  Please share in the comments.

Testimonials

"Having morning family prayers is something I grew up with, but having a systematic approach that infuses Baha’u’llah’s words, virtues, and music into your morning devotions really carries that spirit through the rest of the day..." Read more on our Testimonials page.
