Prayer
O my God! O my God! Unite the hearts of Thy servants, and reveal to them Thy great purpose. May they follow Thy commandments and abide in Thy law. Help them, O God, in their endeavor, and grant them strength to serve Thee. O God! Leave them not to themselves, but guide their steps by the light of Thy knowledge, and cheer their hearts by Thy love. Verily, Thou art their Helper and their Lord.
(Bahá’u’lláh, Baha’i Prayers, p. 203)
Quotation
The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.
(Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, p. 286)

Songs
Unity
(Nabil H., Virtues In Us #26)
The more we get together,
together, together.
The more we get together,
the happier we’ll be.
Because your friends are my friends
and my friends are your friends.
The more we get together
the happier we’ll be.
You’ll Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song
(Raffi, Corner Grocery Store #1)
You’ll sing a song and I’ll sing a song
And we’ll sing a song together
You’ll sing a song and I’ll sing a song
In warm or wintry weather
You’ll play a tune…
You’ll whistle a tune…

Comments about the lesson
Keeping unity at the forefront of my mind has been very empowering. Perhaps I sometimes I tend to concentrate on the “service” aspect of parenting a bit too much, because working on being “unified” and empowering the kids to take an active part in the upkeep of the household has been great for everyone. They have enjoyed the extra activities and I’ve enjoyed the help!
During Daily Activity #9 my son’s enjoyed holding each other while they tried to walk/run/jump etc. It was a fun example of how all parts of a body must be united to function properly.
My 21 month old loves puppets nowadays so he thought Daily Activity #11 was a lot of fun – mostly just practicing being friendly and using “gentle hands.” My 4 year old enjoyed showing his books to the puppet to make it feel included in play time.We loved putting the collage together for Daily Activity #14. Looking out for happy faces and acts of service in our newspaper was a very positive experience for all of us. We had to skip so many other sorts of pictures… so it was always exciting to find something that could represent “unity” in our collage.

It was interesting to think about how little diversity my children have been exposed to, when doing Daily Activity #18. They do have friends of many different cultures and backgrounds but have not really been introduced to cultural differences yet. They are still young, but this activity made me think that it may be fun to start trying some foods from different countries, listening to music from around the world, and other things like that!
